When the Game is Over, It All Goes Back Into the Box
John Ortberg

Setup
Chapter 5 - Untie Your Ropes

"All men want, no something to do with, but something to be."
Henry David Thoreau

"Being rich toward God meant Moses would detach himself from his need for safety and security."

I wonder what about you?
I wonder what about me?
What do I have to detach myself from?

Being detached is not being remote or univvolved with life. It's the opposite. It does not mean being passive or neutral, or being an emotional zombie.

"It means that I am so committed to being rich toward God that I seek to be free of any emcumbrances that could trap me."

I think... Just for me... I have to be careful when it comes to gaming. I have to be careful when it comes to my desire to play as a guitarist in church.

Tests and trials are good. They make me clearer and honest to me and Him. They are like fires that burn away my impurity, so that the lasting part of me is revealed. Gold... Like gold... Purely gold...

Sweet.
